About Ameripet Hotel & Pet Center
The AmeriPet began in a small grooming shop on “D” Street in 1994. Gretchen Harper opened and ran “Lucy’s Groomers” in this location from 1994 until 1997. In that period it became obvious that the Idaho Falls community was starved for a top quality pet facility. The idea of the AmeriPet was born. We began construction of the original facility in the winter of 1996 and opened the doors in May of 1997. We had 26 runs and the present cat room. Gretchen Harper was the lone Groomer.Within a year it became obvious that more runs were needed and we started the second wing in 1999. It filled immediately. The business continued to grow and in 2000 Gretchen left the grooming to work full time managing the operation. In 2008 we added yet a second building.The AmeriPet won the Post Register’s award for the “Best Kennel” for the first time in 1997. Our facility and employees are recognized as the most conscientious in the area and it is to this that we owe our good fortune.
